Computer programs keep saying not responding




















More like a dork, not a geek. I have a friend who is a computer geek, But he has a problem talking to regular people. And this compatability stuff.

I can't get GRE prep to open anywhere. Have followed all the 'helpful' suggesstions, but no go. I really need that study guide,k? Please can you post your problem in a New Topic. It is not polite to hijack another members thread. But now it seems that the problem that has affected it recently is MsiInstaller, Application Hang, and Search.

Any idea how to get rid of these problems as well? Can you open a browser, or an application from your All Programs list? When you say everything, we tend to think that your entire computer is on the fritz, and this makes us think of MAJOR system overhauls.

I have a 1 TB hard drive and tons of memory. What can be done to fix this problem? The 1TB hard drive doesn't really contribute to your performance, it's just a ton of storage. It's like having a really large library, but what matters much much more is RAM, or in this analogy how many books you can put on a desk and read at the same time. But regardless, when things go "not responding", it means that the system hasn't heard a heartbeat from them.

Typically this means the program is incredibly busy for example, it's normal for Excel to say "not responding" when it's busy calculating the results of hundreds of formulas, and doesn't indicate a problem. But you should not be seeing this when the computer isn't under heavy load. And at the same time, you'll want to go minimize non-essential things from running. Was this reply helpful?
